Siemens Medical Solutions has been ranked number one in ultrasound radiology market share, and for the sixth consecutive year has the number one selling ultrasound system in the United States, according to the Klein Biomedical Consultants (KBC; New York, NY, USA) 2005 Annual Report.

KBC, a strategic marketing firm and a leading authority on the ultrasound market, reported that Siemens' Acuson Sequoia ultrasound platform was the number one selling product in 2005 based on sales volume. "Siemens has consistently developed and brought to the market high value solutions that provide cutting-edge clinical performance and workflow efficiencies for our customers,” said Klaus Hambuechen, president, Ultrasound Division, Siemens Medical Solutions.

"Siemens Ultrasound holds the number one position in the U.S. radiology market,” said Harvey Klein, Ph.D., founder and president, KBC. "The company's strategic business focus enables it to maintain this leadership position.”

The KBC 2005 Report ranks Siemens as number one in radiology market share in total revenues including options, with a market share of 34%, followed by Philips Medical Systems (Best, The Netherlands) and General Electric Healthcare (Chalfont St. Giles, UK), respectively. According to the KBC report, Siemens holds nearly 66% of the total U.S. ultrasound market's options and upgrade business.

"This is a true testimonial from our customers that Siemens continues to provide high value technologies and option upgrades that make a difference in medical diagnostic imaging, continuing to extend the original return on investment,” said Mr. Hambuechen. "These top rankings directly reflect the success of Siemens in providing solutions that directly benefit patient outcomes and address workflow efficiencies in ultrasound imaging.”
