Siemens Medical Solutions (Erlangen, Germany) and Impac Medical Systems Inc. (Mountain View, CA, USA), part of the Elekta Group (Stockholm, Sweden) and a leading provider of information technology systems for oncology care, have recently announced a five-year extension of their software distribution agreement, which enables Siemens to distribute its Lantis Oncology Information System, based on Impac's integrated clinical and administrative management systems, to oncology practices around the world.

Under the terms of the agreement, Siemens can package Impac's radiation oncology management software with its oncology treatment systems to address the comprehensive needs of today's oncology departments, and will continue to cooperate in the development and marketing of Impac products.

"Our relationship with Impac has been in effect since 1992, and the fact that we will remain partners in oncology solutions is a testament to our willingness to work together to provide the oncology community with comprehensive solutions for clinical and administrative practice management,” said Ajit Singh, Ph.D., president of Siemens Medical Solutions, oncology care systems division. "Our current and future customers will continue to benefit from this agreement.”
