Axeda Systems, Inc. (Mansfield, MA, USA), a provider of device relationship management (DRM) software and services, has announced that BrainLAB (Munich, Germany), a developer and manufacturer of medical technology for radiosurgery, radiotherapy, orthopedics, ENT, and neurosurgery, has licensed the Axeda DRM system to enable proactive customer support. BrainLAB will initially deploy the Axeda DRM on its VectorVision and BrainSCAN workstations, with future rollouts planned for its integrated microsurgical operating room solution, BrainSUITE, and its radiotherapy product line.

Axeda provides DRM remote service solutions to the major manufacturers of medical and scientific instruments. The DRM system is a distributed software system that securely transmits status and usage data via the Internet from remote equipment to service representatives, alerting them to the fact that a device is operating outside preset performance standards. The DRM system leverages Firewall-Friendly communications technology and existing network security within medical facilities.
