Synarc (San Francisco, CA, USA) has announced the appointment of Michael Weiner, M.D., a pioneer of early magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as medical director of neurology. Synarc is the world's largest radiology service focused exclusively on imaging and biochemical markers for clinical trials, with offices in the United States, Denmark, France, and Germany.

Dr. Weiner is professor of radiology, neurology, psychiatry, and medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (USA) and directs the magnetic resonance spectroscopy unit at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in San Francisco.
He was among the first to use MR technology to generate images in vivo. Dr. Weiner has researched and published more than 400 articles on neurodegenerative diseases and other aspects of neuroradiology.

"Like our founders, Michael Weiner is a leader in his field who has devoted his life to medical imaging; he now joins us in advancing drug development for diseases of the central nervous system,” commented Peter Steiger, president and CEO of Synarc.
