Carestream has released updates for an advanced Internet Technology (IT) healthcare platform at the Röntgenveckan Radiology congress in Malmo (Sweden).

The IT platform facilitates collaboration by enabling sharing of critical patient information such as Radiology images, videos, reports, and services with groups outside of the Radiology department, and allows retrieval of structured data, and interactive reports.

The Clinical Collaboration Platform (CCP) was developed by Carestream (Rochester, NY, USA) and can be used in conjunction with existing Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), Vendor Neutral Archives (VNA), and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for example, to manage medical data, and improve the efficiency of clinical management processes.

The CCP includes four modules: acquisition management, workflow management, VNA, and distribution management. The acquisition management module collects captured images, and movies, and patient data, from various hospital departments, to enable the telemedicine and teleradiology workflow. The workflow management tools Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) and other standards to tag clinical data, provide quality control, and facilitate the flow of information to enable search and display. The VNA module merges storage of the data into one system, taking into account the care cycle and the comprehensive clinical history of a patient. The distribution management module enables image distribution using a zero-footprint universal viewer, and includes clinical reading, reporting, and distribution tools.
