A global provider of dental and medical imaging systems and IT solutions has showcased the advanced reporting features of their Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) workstation at the 17th annual International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT (ISCT), held in San Francisco, in June, 2015.

The capabilities of the PACS were shown during the Symposium’s “Workstation Face-Off” competition which required companies to demonstrate how their workstations could improve diagnosis and communication with physicians and patients. The vendor demonstrated how the unified backend architecture of their PACS workstation, including features such as automated 3-D processing and interactive reporting, could improve the report interpretation process, and collaboration and data exchange between the various radiology workflow stakeholders.

Carestream (Rochester, NY, USA) was the only vendor taking part in the competition, who’s PACS was able to complete all cases, including chest aortic coarctation, carotid stenosis vs. occlusion, radial artery occlusion, cirrhosis, and sigmoid volvulus.

Sheba Medical Center (Ramat Gan, Israel) radiologist, Orly Goitein, MD, presented the cases for Carestream at the event. Her demonstration included the new native Carestream’s Vue Reporting, Vue Motion, and My Vue modules, and showed how simplifying the collaboration and data exchange workflow could significantly boost productivity.

Dr. Menashe Benjamin, vice president of Healthcare Information Solutions at Carestream, said, “Interactive, multimedia reports, with live key images and hyperlinks to images and priors increase the value clinicians get from radiology reports and may shorten the time required to achieve patient treatment decisions.”
