Internet Application Lets Users Find Clinical Trials that Match Individual Health Conditions

A new application has been designed on the popular online website twitter to help individuals with health problems in the search for appropriate clinical trials.

Trialx (New York, NY, USA) has launched a Twitter app (application) to find matching clinical trials. With a simple tweet (i.e., @Trialx CT 55 yo female with multiple sclerosis), the app will tweet back with a link containing the matching trials, in less than two minutes.

The healthcare industry has long been plagued with the challenge of finding suitable patients for clinical trials. Currently available solutions are expensive, generic, time-consuming, and significantly, require both patients and investigators to go through multiple middle channels to discover each other and engage in clinical trials.

Well not anymore. TrialX, with its unique online "Do it Yourself" model focused on patients and clinical trial investigators, aims to change the dynamics of this industry by enabling patients to find new treatments in an easy and timely manner. TrialX leverages technologies such as personal health records (PHR), social media, and computational methods, to empower patients and investigators with the tools to find and connect with each other effortlessly.

Using TrialX, a participant can import their PHR information from Microsoft HealthVault, Google Health (TrialX is the only company in this space to be fully integrated with these PHRs) or Indivo, find the most suitable clinical trials based on their health profile and email the trial investigator, all in a matter of a few clicks. On the other hand, an investigator can submit their approved clinical trials on the TrialX website, recruit eligible participants and track the responses.
