PACS Integration with New Software Helps Address Communications Challenge

A new integration of a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) with third-party software that addresses regulatory, quality, and communications and reporting functionally challenges helps radiologists comply with the Joint Commission's U.S. National patient safety goals.

Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium), a leading provider of information technology- (IT)-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announced the availability of workflow integration with peerVue's (Burlington, VT, USA) qiVue system. The integrated solution is available in the United States only.

Integration with Agfa's Impax 6 platform enables the radiologist to be more efficient through simple point-and-click reporting of study discrepancies and other quality- and communication-related activities directly from the Impax desktop. These processes are now required for accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and in compliance with The Joint Commission's National Patient Safety Goals. The functionality features include peer review, technologist quality control, emergency department-discrepancy management, and teaching files.
