Portable Ultrasound Augments Clinical Diagnostic Value

Posted on 09 Oct 2015
A novel portable ultrasound device is intended for use in environments where larger ultrasounds can be impractical, such as air ambulances, mobile clinics, and field work.

The Fujifilm SonoSite iViz provides clinicians with the ability to perform ultrasound at the point of care, integrating with medical information technology (IT) to seamlessly access patient vitals, send online applications, and serve as a learning resource. More...
It also integrates with hospital information systems (HIS) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems to obtain patient demographics and submit reports, and connects securely with cloud services for sharing studies with remote providers for real-time assessments.

The lightweight device features a high resolution seven-inch display touchscreen, a wide dynamic range over a large viewing angle with vibrant color flow images, Wi-Fi capabilities, Bluetooth connectivity, and interface ports for USB, HDMI, and audio. In addition to high resolution (HD) two dimensional (2D) imaging, the system also supports M-Mode and Color Velocity Doppler. The iViz, a product of Fujifilm SonoSite (Bothell, WA, USA) is available with a P21v phased array 5-MHz transducer, and features proprietary SonoHD2 Imaging and SonoADAPT Tissue Optimization software technologies.

“Fujifilm SonoSite delivers a powerful and valuable solution to the market with the launch of iViz. It is a revolutionary tool that reaches new levels of mobility, image performance, and connectivity,” said Masayuki Higuchi, president and CEO of Fujifilm SonoSite. “Clinicians will now have access to technology that can be used on-the move, in-the-field or on-the ground.”
