Fujifilm Medical Systems Europe (Duesseldorf, Germany), a provider of diagnostic imaging products and medical informatics solutions, showcased its broad, enhanced line up of products and solutions at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2018. The products and solutions showcased by Fujifilm at ECR 2018 focused on women’s health, healthcare IT, artificial intelligence (AI), digital radiography (DR), computed tomography (CT), computed radiography and ultrasound.

At ECR 2018, Fujifilm introduced its new FCT SPEEDIA series CT systems with a compact size, powerful applications, and optimized workflow designed for multiple routine examinations. Both, the FCT Speedia and FCT Speedia HD offer fast scan rotation, sub-millimeter slice thickness, high power generator, and advanced image reconstruction algorithms to produce high resolution and high throughput imaging. The company also displayed its AMULET Innovality digital mammography system featuring two different acquisition modes and a revised face guard (WIP) to improve patient comfort during tomosynthesis exposures. Also on display was Fujifilm’s new Bellus II digital mammography workstation featuring advanced functions for image visualization and processing and a reporting utility designed to support mammography interpretation workflow.

Visitors at the company’s booth at ECR 2018 also viewed FDR Smart X, a flexible and modular room solution for DR that has been designed to complement FDR D-EVO II digital panels in all clinical applications and is available in ceiling-suspended or floor-mounted versions. Additionally, the company presented FDR D-EVO GL, the first 43x125cm digital panel ever for long view exposures, featuring an acquisition area that allows single-shot exposures of the whole spine and the inferior limbs.

Fujifilm’s FDR Go PLUS made its first appearance at ECR 2018. The new and improved mobile X-ray system offers better maneuverability and ergonomics due to its new and compact design, along with improved image quality than its predecessor. Visitors also tested the company’s lightweight and compact mobile X-ray system, FDR nano that features a revolutionary design and offers sensational image quality.

Among Fujifilm’s portfolio of medical informatics and Enterprise Imaging innovations showcased at ECR 2018 was its AI development initiative that aims to harness the power of AI to enhance the company’s imaging and informatics healthcare Synapse portfolio, which includes Synapse PACS, Synapse Cardiovascular and Synapse VNA and other solutions. SYNAPSE 5, the next generation PACS, is one of the fastest medical imaging solutions in the industry, offering sub-second delivery of extremely large datasets. Its underlying architecture promotes significantly less bandwidth consumption and tighter security. SYNAPSE VNA is a secure, comprehensive application for storing and providing access to complete imaging records. It securely integrates more specialties, more devices, and more data than any other VNA. The SYNAPSE MOBILITY Enterprise Viewer uses the latest server-side rendering technology to stream imaging securely and quickly to any authorized user. It can be used within applications, directly from the EHR, or on the company’s mobile device apps. Fujifilm also presented Syncro-Dose as a work-in-progress product at ECR 2018. Syncro-Dose is a comprehensive system for monitoring and managing patient radiation exposure at enterprise level across different imaging modalities and hospital facilities.

“Fujifilm’s commitment to a value based care is expressed into ECR 2018 theme of a more comprehensive care,” said Hiroaki Shimosaka, Senior VP Fujifilm Medical Systems Europe. “With our forward-thinking and collaborative approach we aim to provide more custom and integrated solution in order to enable our partners to improve patients’ experiences and outcome. The launch of the new FCT SPEEDIA, and the development of AI within SYNAPSE IT platform are two exceptional examples of how Fujifilm harness the full potential of the company’s core technologies to improve its role as comprehensive healthcare company.”
