Medical Image Guidance Systems Developer Reports Demand for Systems in Q1 2016

The developer of an innovative guidance system that can improve the accuracy and clinical outcomes for spine and brain surgery procedures, has announced demand for its systems during the first quarter of 2016.

The technology has been clinically validated, and is being used for surgery and for implants around the world. The company installed four spinal surgery guidance systems in the US, and will install another in Australia. The company has an installed base of 113 Renaissance systems, including a total of 68 systems in the US.

Mazor Robotics (Orlando, FL, USA) develops and manufactures the Renaissance Guidance system. The system uses innovative robotic technology and provides mechanical guidance to help surgeons perform complex procedures. The user interface of the Renaissance system helps surgeons create an accurate surgical blueprint for planning their operation using a virtual 3D environment. The Renaissance system can also reduce the amount of fluoroscopy required for cases of spinal deformity, minimally-invasive surgery, and revision. This can increase the safety of both the patient and the surgeon.
