Simple But Effective: OR Technology’s New Detector Holder

Showcasing a highly practical and versatile new device, OR Technology, a company based in Rostock (Germany, introduced MII [MedImaging] to its simple but effective new X-ray detector holder at this year’s European Congress of Radiology (ECR).

OR technology is the only company that makes a device of this nature, for this purpose. But as a whole, the company has a broad remit in imaging and associated applications. It is a leading provider of customized System Solutions for human and veterinary medicine, security and industry, specializing in digital X-ray imaging, image management and cloud-based image distribution. They have been operating since 1991, now working in over 70 countries.

At their ECR exhibition booth, Daniela Bubber, from the Marketing Department and Bernd Oehm, CEO and owner of OR Technology discussed the new detector holder, which was on demonstration, hanging on a door.

It is a simple but remarkably effective device with wide usability. The detector holder is all about making the patient’s imaging experience more comfortable. With its portable, uncomplicated and light structure, it can be used in situations challenged by space and resource.

“It is good for the army, for disaster management situations where portability is so important and resources limited. It can be mounted on a nail, or a door,” said Mr Oehm.

Suitable for images of the head, chest and hips, it is designed to ensure stability of the X-ray equipment during use, which is essential for the acquisition of high quality images, especially in some of the challenging environments for which it was intended.

“This product speaks to the needs of portable X-ray, for example in homecare,” remarked Mr Oehm, “instead of having to carry a large stand on castors and wheels, which is difficult to transport.”

It has with a special tool for smaller doors if needed, being adjustable to fit the facility available. As such it can accommodate patients in wheelchairs by lowering the holder to the required level for wheelchair-bound patient.

Also, recently announced by OR Technology, was the start of the company’s operations in Bolivia, South America, in particular, the portable X-ray system, Amadeo M-DR. “Now patients can be cared for with our complete system, Amadeo M-DR, with a wireless detector,” said Mr Oehm.

The availability of OR Technology is partly a response to expansion of Bolivia’s healthcare system by extensive government programs.
“Even in remote regions patients can be cared for in so-called mobile units,” he added.

OR Technology’s mobile and light-weight X-ray system Amadeo M-DR is perfectly suited for such use due to its flexible properties, and as such, it is suitable for any operational area in a solid transport box – even by parachute.
