Endoscopic Ultrasound System Provides Super-Computing Speeds to Improve Resolution

A new endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) system provides high performance, speed, and the potential to increase diagnostic effectiveness in contrast to traditional ultrasound systems. In addition, it integrates excellent contrast and detail resolution of high compounding with the tissue density/hardness imaging capabilities of sonoelastography.

Pentax Medical Co. (Tokyo, Japan), a developer of endoscopic imaging systems, recently announced the release of the Hi Vision Preirus ultrasound scanner. Pentax Medical, in collaboration with Hitachi-Aloka (Tokyo, Japan), has had a long history of introducing ultrasound scanners to the gastroenterology and pulmonary markets, that present new possibilities in imaging capabilities with the state-of-the-art Hi Vision Preirus, enabling better patient care.

“The new Hi Vision Preirus scanner brings improved accuracy and efficiency to my EUS practice. The enhanced imaging capabilities of this state-of-the-art scanner help me to deliver great patient care by enabling me to attain fast, precise, and reproducible images of lesions using several modalities,” said Sandeep Patel, MD, assistant professor of medicine, director of pancreaticobiliary endoscopy, Christus Santa Rosa Hospital (San Antonio, TX, USA).

The next-generation ultrasound system from Hitachi is designed to easily and effectively address all of the challenges physicians face in ultrasound imaging. The supercomputer speeds of the system improve resolution, delineation, and depth of imaging, while reducing noise, to provide optical and ultrasonic visualization and potentially increase detection of abnormalities and provide endoscopic therapeutic access to the upper gastrointestinal tract. The Hi Vision Preirus, in addition to its excellent imaging capabilities, is also designed with the restrictions of small procedure rooms in mind, featuring an award-winning ergonomic design.
