RamSoft, Inc. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a developer of radiology information systems (RIS), picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and teleradiology health information technology (IT) software, has partnered with M*Modal (Franklin, TN, USA) to offer embedded speech technology as a further way of improving workflow for radiologists.

M*Modal’s Speech Understanding is incorporated with RamSoft’s PowerServer RIS/PACS, PACS and Tele Plus systems. It works with RamSoft’s embedded reporting applications tools such as structured reports based on Radiology Society of North America (RSNA) guidelines as well as custom templates created by the end user. Speech Understanding is a cloud- based system designed for any size radiology group and will be available from RamSoft on a subscription basis. As a cloud-based solution, management and synchronization of user and group profiles are managed automatically while the speech recognition “learns” and adapts based on user behavior/action to additionally improve recognition and understanding of clinical speech and language.

According to Vijay Ramanathan, president and CEO of RamSoft, the software developers at both RamSoft and M*Modal have done an outstanding job to ensure customers can use speech recognition in an effective way. “The result of this partnership is the very highest productivity for radiologists,” said Mr. Ramanathan.

“Our highest priority is providing our customers and partners with the best speech technology and user experience in the industry,” stated M*Modal president Michael Finke. “By embedding M*Modal’s Speech Understanding technology with RamSoft’s health IT solutions, radiologists will experience unparalleled efficiencies in both workflow and reporting.”

PowerServer RIS/PACS, PACS, and Tele Plus are customizable, 100% web-based image management systems running on a single-database platform. They support all modalities and provide the performance, stability, and security healthcare facilities require. The workflow engine automates every aspect of the production environment thereby freeing up radiology professionals to focus on providing better, faster patient care. The optional ONC-ATCB-certified complete electronic health record (EHR) is designed for PowerServer RIS/PACS and Tele Plus to capture the necessary data to attest to Meaningful Use (MU) and qualify for grant monies.

RamSoft, a Canadian IT software and services company with over 16 years of experience, is dedicated to developing and delivering cost effective RIS, PACS and Teleradiology solutions for its clients in the US and around the world. The company’s goal is to enable imaging facilities, radiology centers, and ambulatory and acute-care practices to continue offering superior patient care while improving workflow efficiencies. RamSoft, Inc. provides a wide range of cost-effective and full-featured solutions such as the PowerServer Series of PACS, RIS/PACS, Teleradiology, and patient information-management systems.

M*Modal is a provider of clinical transcription services, clinical documentation workflow solutions, cloud-based Speech Understanding technology, and unstructured data analytics. M*Modal also offers voice to text solutions to capture the complete patient story, codifies the physician’s narrative to automatically populate EHRs and other major healthcare information systems, delivers computer-assisted coding to support ICD-9 and the transition to ICD-10.
