Agfa Wins US Government's DIN-PACS Contract for Third Consecutive Time

A comprehensive range of medical imaging products, systems, and services continue to meet the US government's stringent requirements for complex, multisite healthcare information technology (IT).

Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium), a provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, reported that the US government has awarded the company its DIN-PACS III (Digital Imaging Network-Picture Archiving and Communications System) contract. The contract initially runs for two years with an additional three years of options. Each year is worth a potential US$60 million, with a maximum contract limitation of $600 million if the government elects to extend the contract through all of the additional option terms.

"This award reaffirms both the strength of our longstanding partnership with the US government, one of Agfa HealthCare's largest customers worldwide, and our commitment to the patients that our government customers serve every day and night."
Agfa HealthCare is the only company that has held a DIN-PACS contract with the US government since 1998, and it is the top supplier of the government's DIN-PACS solutions. Under the previous two DIN-PACS contracts, Agfa HealthCare has delivered more than $450 million in products and services.

The new DIN-PACS III contract, with starting date March 8, 2011, includes imaging informatics products, such as PACS and medical imaging repositories, computed radiography/ direct radiography (CR/DR), speech recognition, integration services, and support programs to be utilized by US Federal agencies.

Agfa HealthCare's prior DIN-PACS contracts have included projects for the US Department of Defense (DOD), the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Department of Health and Human Services, the US Department of Justice, and other agencies requiring DIN-PACS goods and services.

Over its 13-year relationship, Agfa HealthCare has developed a strong presence across a wide range of US government facilities, advancing the quality of healthcare delivery with solutions installed at more than 180 DOD and VA medical treatment facilities, including 14 DOD/NATO [North Atlantic Treaty Organization] sites in Europe, five of the VA's multifacility Veterans Integrated Service Networks, and more than 30 Navy ships.
