An innovative whole body imaging system delivers studio-quality still images and video capture for patient motion studies.

The Canfield Scientific (Canfield; Parsippany, NJ, USA) IntelliStudio II total body photography system uses a 50MP full frame single lens reflex (SLR) camera and studio-quality non-polarized and cross-polarized lighting to capture consistent and reproducible clinical photographic images. Cross-polarized lighting eliminates specular highlights and improves the ability to see skin features; non-polarized lighting with proprietary Xenon flashes are calibrated and balanced to reveal skin features, while maintaining aesthetics and reducing shadows.

Facial recognition technology automatically positions the camera using a motorized, programmable lift to control height consistency, and then recalls the same position, camera settings, and lens-zoom setting for follow-up and post-procedural photos. The Canfield MatchPose capture and management software tools, and DermaGraphix body mapping software then enable quick capture of body map photographs, providing an informative dashboard that provide a complete view of the patient's photographic history, facilitating mole mapping and pre and post image capture.

Powerful light emitting diode (LED) illumination and integrated video features that include recording, playback, and zooming, provide full high definition (HD) video dermoscopy capabilities. To complete the photographic dermatology record, the Canfield VEOS handheld dermatoscope can provide close up images of all tagged lesions, integrating seamlessly with DermaGraphix software via wired or wireless connectivity.

“We've simplified image capture to ensure the best quality images,” said manager Dennis O'Neal, product manager at Canfield Scientific. “Our fast, motorized programmable lift, automated body mapping software, and selection of standard templates control camera settings and patient poses, resulting in clear, high resolution images every time, for every user.”
