A new obstetrical ultrasound simulator provide a three-dimensional (3D), augmented reality view of fetal and maternal anatomy that can be seen during scanning next to a real time, simulated ultrasound image.

“CAE Healthcare’s (Orlando, FL, USA) Vimedix Women’s Health will help speed the training of physicians and sonographers who perform prenatal ultrasound examinations to assess fetal health and diagnose abnormalities,” said Dr. Robert Amyot, CAE Healthcare’s chief medical officer. “The use of ultrasound in medicine is growing at a rapid pace, and we are continuing to develop simulation training tools to facilitate the widespread adoption of this technology.”

The simulator will allow learners to improve imaging skills and be exposed to a range of ultrasound settings and pathologies before they scan a real patient. Vimedix Women’s Health provides the accessibility of both instructor-led and self-directed learning, therefore, users can practice challenging ultrasound skills whenever and wherever they want.

VimedixWomen’s Health is the newest addition to the Vimedix product range, which includes transesophageal (TEE), transthoracic (TTE), and abdominal ultrasound exams with a wide range of patient cases to improve learners’ understanding of anatomy, ultrasound imaging acquisition and interpretation.

CAE Healthcare offers innovative learning systems to healthcare professionals and students, allowing them to develop practical experience through risk-free simulation training before treating real patients. CAE Healthcare’s full range of simulation solutions includes surgical and imaging simulation, center management, and highly realistic adult, pediatric and baby patient simulators. Today, approximately 7,000 CAE Healthcare simulators are in use worldwide by medical schools, nursing schools, hospitals, defense forces and other entities.
