A provider of healthcare technology management solutions has announced a new, more cost-effective service agreement for wired and wireless digital detectors used for radiology imaging in hospitals.

Digital detectors are portable imaging devices used in hospitals, outpatient facilities, and clinics outside of conventional radiology departments. Digital detectors are more easily damaged, and expensive to replace, costing between USD 85,000 and USD 120,000 each.

The new Digital Detector Solutions service agreement was launched by Renovo Solutions (Irvine, CA, USA) and is intended to replace existing full-service agreements for replacement coverage. Renovo Solutions developed the new service agreement together with ProTek (Irvine, CA, USA).

The Digital Detector Solutions provides the same service and coverage as traditional full-service plans, at a lower cost, and covers digital detectors separately from other imaging equipment, for improved risk and cost management. Expected average cost savings when using Digital Detector Solutions are 20% to 50% for digital detectors.

Sandy Morford, Renovo Solutions CEO, said, "In this era of value-based care, every hospital radiology department is required to stay within budget. They have to fully insure for the risk of breakage or failure of digital detectors, as they do with their other specialized imaging equipment. With no comparable alternative, these service agreements are expensive and provide little flexibility in coverage options."
