Members of the physician information technology (IT) group at a US radiology practice are utilizing a new software technology to enhance its image sharing capabilities and provide immediate cluster failover in case of network failures.

The Dicom Systems’ (Campbell, CA, USA) enterprise imaging solutions will be utilized at Riverside Radiology and Interventional Associates (Columbus, OH, USA) to help navigate disparate picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) to more effectively deliver the appropriate images to the appropriate physician at the right time.

“This strategic collaboration with Dicom Systems is delivering a truly deconstructed PACS environment for our radiology group practice customers and their hospital partners,” said Ron Hosenfeld, CIO, Riverside Radiology and Interventional Associates. “By utilizing Dicom System’s DICOM and HL7 router, RRIA can more efficiently move images around across disparate information systems and deliver them to the radiologist in a format that best supports their productivity, clinical quality, and report turnaround times.”

“Riverside Radiology and Interventional Associates technology team’s decision to align with Dicom Systems to this degree is a very rewarding validation for us that our products are on the leading edge of the radiology IT solutions industry,” said Dmitriy Tochilnik, Dicom Systems president. “The work Ron and his team are doing is well beyond what we’ve seen other radiology IT solutions companies attempting to tackle. They’re really pushing the envelope and we are excited to be right there with them.”

Riverside Radiology and Interventional Associates (RRIA) is a diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology practice. The group consists of 90 subspecialized radiologists who support 25 hospitals and more than 35 outpatient imaging facilities, as well as four interventional radiology programs at several different locations throughout the US state of Ohio.

Dicom Systems offers a 100% secure web-based Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) and HL [health level] 7 routing and interface engine appliance for hospitals, clinics and diagnostic imaging centers. Its proprietary technology simplifies the client’s IT structure by applying industry standard protocols, thereby enabling users fast and effective access to information regardless of their physical location within the enterprise.
