A novel ultrasound system with advanced imaging capabilities has been unveiled at the 2015 European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna (Austria).

The device features a software touch-screen control panel, smart transducer technology with a single-board system design, and integrated General Processing Unit (GPU). Additional features include a sealed panel to facilitate cleaning, etched marking for primary controls to assist the user in locating key functions, secure badge log-on, and a cold boot time of 18 seconds with no need for standby mode or battery backup.

The CARESTREAM Touch Ultrasound system was developed by Carestream (Rochester, NY, USA) and is expected to begin shipping in the 3rd-quarter of 2015.

Diana L. Nole, president, Digital Medical Solutions at Carestream, said, “Our new ultrasound platform was developed based on extensive input from sonographers and other ultrasound imaging professionals. We have a proven history of customer-focused innovation in digital medical imaging technology and are now extending our expertise to the ultrasound field. We identified important user needs that were not adequately addressed by existing ultrasound systems and created a powerful platform for ultrasound imaging. This is the first product in a new family of Carestream systems that can redefine this market and enable ultrasound providers to further enhance patient care.”
