A company specializing in ultrasound systems for medical imaging has announced the release of a software upgrade that includes enhanced performance, improved efficiency and workflow, a new breast package, a real-time simultaneous mode with SWE, and a dedicated package for pre-clinical and clinical research.

The software platform acquires up to 20,000 images per second (hundreds of times faster than other ultrasound systems) and provides improved image quality, less ultrasound insufficiencies, improved speed, and new capabilities. The system uses two different kinds of ultrasound waves, one for image quality, and a shear wave for measuring and displaying color-coded, real-time, local tissue elasticity.

SuperSonic Imagine (Aix-en-Provence, France) announced the release of the major software upgrade for their Aixplorer ultrasound system.

The new breast package provides global breast imaging, and detailed images for breast anatomy examination. The package uses the new SL18-5 high-frequency probe, and the SLH20-6 probe specialized for breast imaging. The new TriVu mode enables simultaneous real time visualization of anatomy, tissue stiffness, vascularization, B-mode, color flow imaging, and ShearWave Elastography (SWE). All relevant clinical information is displayed in a single view.

The extended Angio PL.U.S. (PLanewave UltraSensitive Imaging) is focused on breast imaging, but is also intended for the thyroid, abdominal, vascular, and gynecologic applications. Angio PL.U.S. uses advanced Color Doppler Imaging for improved microvascular imaging, color sensitivity, and spatial resolution, as well as 2-D imaging. Angio PL.U.S. is available on the XC6-1 abdominal transducer for the evaluation of the liver, kidneys, and other organs.

CIO and founder of SuperSonic Imagine, Jacques Souquet, said, "This new release includes multiple improvements and innovations. As the innovators of ShearWave Elastography for tissue stiffness quantification and Angio PL.U.S. for visualization of small vessels, we are proud to bring another 'first' to ultrasound imaging with TriVu. This is unique on the market and only possible with our UltraFast platform. Many other enhancements and workflow efficiencies have been integrated into Aixplorer and we are very excited to present this new release to our customers."
