An X-ray quality assurance solutions vendor has created a first-of-a-kind community for physicians to learn and share the risks of radiation exposure, and measures they can use to protect themselves.

The new community stores the most recent research about radiation exposure, and enables clinical personnel to share and learn from each other.

The LowerMyDose.com site, created by Unfors RaySafe, a Fluke Biomedical Company (Billdal, Sweden), promotes peer-to-peer engagement and sharing about excessive and unnecessary radiation exposure. The aim of the initiative is to help physicians, now more aware about the cumulative effect of radiation exposure, to reduce their exposure over the course of their career.

To address this, Unfors RaySafe, a Fluke Biomedical Company, launched the LowerMyDose.com site. This first-of-its kind community delivers the most current research about radiation exposure, as well as stories and anecdotes from practicing clinical personnel. LowerMyDose dot com promotes peer-to-peer engagement through real-life experience sharing about the concerns of excessive and unnecessary radiation exposure.

Scott Pollak, MD, interventional cardiologist at Florida Hospital Orlando, said, "Radiation safety awareness is key not just for patients, but for the physicians and clinical teams treating patients. Before I was diagnosed with cancer, I had some awareness of the possible risks of radiation exposure, but my knowledge was limited. LowerMyDose dot com is an invaluable resource for physicians, technologists and nurses who are exposed to radiation on a daily basis."
