The HealthTrust Purchasing Group (Brentwood, TN, USA), one of the largest healthcare supply contracting companies in the United States, has awarded IRadimed Corp. More...
(Winter Park, FL, USA) a contract for its MRidium MRI infusion pump systems. The agreement effective April 1, 2013, makes the MRidium systems available to the more than 1,400 not-for-profit and for-profit acute-care facility members served by HealthTrust. The MRidium system was awarded the contract under HealthTrust’s MR-compatible IV pump category.

The new agreement offers a wide base of new customers for IRadimed to serve and grow its current strong base of MRidium MRI infusion pumps in the US market.

The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) intravenous (IV) infusion pump system offers an expanded drug library with a dose error reduction system (DERS), which helps prevent medication entry errors while programming infusions, and provides the patient safety features that are rapidly becoming the standard in infusion therapy in general patient care areas.

IRadimed’s MRidium infusion pump is the only non-magnetic MRI IV pump solution currently available and is built to deliver accurately and safely in the MRI area. “It is critical to have products which have been designed with the utmost care and thorough insight of this harsh and potentially dangerous environment,” said Roger Susi, president and founder of IRadimed Corp.

The MRidium3860 MRI infusion system offers optional integrated Masimo (Irvine, CA, USA) SET SpO2 capability for continuous monitoring of patients from the intensive care unit (ICU), neonatal ICU (NICU), neurology and other areas of the hospital right into the MRI suite.

The MRidium system has a modular second channel, which when attached to the 3860 IV pump, allows for delivery of two medications simultaneously during patient scans. An optional fully featured wireless remote control monitor is also available that has true plug and play capabilities, requiring no installation. A full range of available infusion sets are also available to provide the clinical flexibility needed in the challenging MRI environment.

IRadimed Corp. is a developer of MRI-safe products and infusion therapy. The company’s founder is the pioneering developer of both the world’s first and best selling MRI-compatible monitoring system and the only nonmagnetic IV pumps designed specifically for use in the MRI setting. The MRidium infusion system has full benefit of the experience and attention to details so important to the development of quality equipment, which can be safely used in the MRI environment.

HealthTrust serves 1,400 acute care facilities, 800 ambulatory surgery centers, and patients in more than 10,600 other locations including physician practices, long-term care, and alternate care sites.
