A single database radiology information system/picture archiving and communication system (RIS/PACS) is simple and intuitive. Its feature-rich workflow engine provides all functions conventionally found in disparate RIS, PACS, radiology electronic medical record (EMR), reporting, physician portal, and analytics software from within a single product.

RamSoft (Toronto, ON, Canada) recently launched Essence, PowerServer RIS/PACS 6.0’s web-based enterprise business intelligence module that features interactive data, dashboards, and reports.

Essence can be accessed from anywhere on computers and iPads with an Internet connection. Predefined reports and dashboards can be used to monitor performance, turnaround time, charges, and study volume. Tailored reports can be constructed by adding data elements with easy to use drag and drop tools. Dashboards can be easily created from existing analysis reports, interactive reports or predefined reports created by the report designer. Reports can also be scheduled to be automatically generated and stored in configurable destination folders for review at a later time. Reports can be exported as PDF, HTML, or as an Excel file into electronic media devices.

PowerServer 6.0 was presented at the 2014 Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) annual meeting, held in Chicago (IL, USA), during November 30 to December 5. Furthermore, in addition to Essence, it will feature other advanced modules such as RapidResults, a powerful clinical image and report viewer application (app) that allows direct messaging between internal and external healthcare providers; PowerServer RIS/PACS/patient management (PM), embedded practice management system and PowerServer speech understanding.

According to Marilyn Solano, director of sales and marketing for RamSoft, “PowerServer 6.0’s Essence will help practice managers to extract quality bottom-line information very quickly, eliminating tedious manual data processing. Essence will also help in tracking efficacy and efficiency to identify areas for improvement. For example, a report on peak utilization times of modality equipment will help in better planning of resources to handle peak load.”

RamSoft is an information technology (IT) software and services company that develops cost- effective RIS, PACS, and teleradiology solutions for its clients in the United States and worldwide. RamSoft, Inc. offers a wide range of affordable and feature-rich solutions such as the PowerServer range of PACS, RIS/PACS, teleradiology, and patient information management systems.
