Newly developed tools for web-based image management systems are helping to provide the stability, performance, and security for imaging facilities.

Stage 2 of meaningful use regulations [which intend to increase health information exchange between providers and promote patient engagement by giving patients secure online access to their health information] has significant impact on radiology. A new version of PowerServer image management system will address the requirement to have all orders and clinical information received electronically while eliminating the need for many HL[health level] 7 interfaces and manual processes necessary to capture required patient data. It will also send reports and links to images directly to referring physician electronic health records (EHRs) to improve access to timely patient information. The improved data integrity and streamlined processes will optimize the quality of care that patients receive in the United States.

With each release of PowerServer, RamSoft (Toronto, ON, Canada) is adding tools and features that enhance the user experience while optimizing process automation and improved patient care. With the new RamSoft Console, the end user’s experience will be as easy as launching an application (app) on their smartphone.

RamSoft’s physician portal, RapidResults, automatically provides diagnostic reports and study images to referring physicians in the most expeditious manner possible. It now offers enhanced functionality such as window/level and the ability to view more than one image at a time. The rebranding of the physician portal and added functionality highlights RamSoft’s focus to fast delivery of critical patient data for overall improvement of patient care.

Database optimizations have also been made to additionally speed up data transfer as well as compression/decompression rates of images without sacrificing image quality. This is especially noticeable on large images such as mammography and tomosynthesis studies. PowerServer 6.0 also supports localization for international markets. It supports multiple languages, including Asian languages, as well as customization to local healthcare requirements.

“Our years of experience in radiology workflow and IT [information technology] management have taught us that advanced solutions that are easier to use benefit radiology practices the most,” said Vijay Ramanathan, president and CEO of RamSoft. “No two radiology practices are alike so it is important that our solutions can be customized to each practice’s needs. Our goal is to exceed user expectations and revolutionize the way radiologists practice healthcare.”

RamSoft’s PowerServer solutions are fully customizable and web-based radiology IT solutions built on a single database platform. A workflow built on a single-database application automates all processes and eliminates unnecessary steps while reducing errors. PowerServer products are developed and tested to ensure industry-leading performance, flexibility, security, and standards compliance for all segments of the imaging market.
