RIS Application Eliminates the Need for Radiologists to Search or Dictate Contrast-Injection Records

A vendor-neutral radiology information system (RIS) application establishes connectivity between Stellant contrast-injection systems, and hospital radiology reporting systems and RIS.

Medrad, Inc. (Warrendale, PA, USA), a business of Bayer HealthCare (Leverkusen, Germany), recently presented industry-first interoperability with the release of the company’s Certegra Informatics Connect.RIS application.

The Connect.RIS application autopopulates contrast-injection records into radiology reporting systems and RIS--eliminating the need for radiologists to look-up or dictate contrast-injection records. Moreover, the application delivers consistent patient records throughout facilities, and supports accurate and efficient billing and reconciliation processes.

“Medrad is leveraging market-leading interoperability that eliminates the need for radiologists to look-up and dictate contrast injection records,” said Anthony Cinalli, vice president, radiology marketing and sales, Medrad, Inc. “Our informatics solutions speed-up the information flow and enable actionable data to lend clinical and administrative insight to radiology professionals throughout the facility.”

Medrad’s Certegra contrast dose management informatics platform is comprised of a comprehensive line of products designed to support radiology professionals’ clinical and administrative needs. Certegra applications automatically document and integrate CT contrast-injection records across clinical systems--using the injector as the source. Injector-based Certegra P3T software individualizes contrast protocols at the point-of-care. Certegra products work in any combination with Medrad’s Stellant contrast-injection systems.

Additional Certegra software and applications include (1) Manage.Report application--data-driven reporting and analysis across computed tomography [CT] suites and shifts; (2) continually measures and helps radiology professionals actively manage performance department-wide; (3) helps to identify and uncover root-cause of atypical events, rescans and more Connect.PACS [picture archiving and communication system] application (PACS integration); (4) automatically captures and integrates CT contrast-injection records (including the protocols programmed and delivered) into PACS; (5) Provides radiologists new information concerning the contrast-injections associated with clinical images as they read; (6) allows radiologists to relate their evaluation of clinical images to any changes made at the point-of-care to the protocol prescribed; (7) P3T software line (personalized CT contrast protocols for abdomen, cardiac and pulmonary angiography studies): (8) enables consistent protocol optimization across patient populations and simplifies complex study administration; (9) enables a higher percentage of diagnostic studies--and reduces the potential for unnecessary rescans.

Medrad develops, markets, and services medical devices used to diagnose and treat disease. Its product offerings include fluid injection systems for radiology and cardiology, endovascular devices for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, magnetic resonance (MR)-compatible accessories and equipment services.
